One of the great things about being American is that informality is built into our social nature. The British are quite a bit more formal. Example: our friends Paul and Jules are some of the coolest people we know, but call them at 2pm and try to invite them over for dinner that night- yeah right! I think they've shut us down like 100 times. So I was pleasantly surprised when Ali Marshall, a friend from church, and his sister and mom stopped by to hang out at like 5, 5:30 tonight. His mom was all apologetic, such a cute English mom! Even better, Ali started making tea for all of us.
It makes me miss the 'hood and running over to the Koetje's just to hang....
